For most of us Interwar architecture of Easter Borderland evokes nostalgy and we tend to associate it with traditional Polish mansion architecture or projects of academic schools. Similarly, like in many other towns of Interwar Poland, the period between two wars was the beginning of opening borderland architecture on modernity and functionality reaching us mainly from the continent. The great impact on the building manner had also the wide process of polonisation, modernization and Europeanization of the eastern territories. The dynamics of these processes influenced culturally the society, inhabitants of the most crucial towns of Easter Borderland among them. Ph D Michał Pszczółkowski, an author of numerous publications and the repeatedly awarded book Modern Kresy. Architecture of the eastern territories of Interwar Poland 1921 – 1939, is going to take us on an inspiring tour through interwar architecture of Easter Borderland.
